Choose a source
Use Odoo API for Odoo 17 or 19, including Odoo.sh; Odoo dump for a database backup (with an optional filestore); Odoo CSV for CSV/XLSX exports or a ZIP of exports; or QuickBooks Online. QuickBooks Online has been checked against a test service, not a live production account. Odoo Online requires the Custom plan to use the external API. See Prepare your Odoo before connecting an Odoo API source.Run an import
- Select a Bites workspace. Under Connect a data source, choose Connector type, enter the requested connection details or upload the file, and select Connect. For a dump or export, use Upload and import if the file was not uploaded when you connected.
- On the connection page, select Test connection for an API connection and resolve any access errors before importing.
- Select Scan to discover source models and counts. Why: the scan shows what can be mapped and what is kept only in the import archive.
- Under Models and domains, select the areas you need; required prerequisites show as Added automatically. With no selection, mapped models and custom models are included. Mapped means a Bites record can be created; other discovered models may only be archived.
- Select Start migration and follow Latest run and Run progress. Keep the connection active until the run completes.
- Select Reconcile and check the Reconciliation table, including warnings and skipped records. Reconciliation may continue as a separate job.
- Later, select Delta sync to fetch changes and retry earlier mapping errors; then Reconcile again. Why: a fresh comparison is needed after changes at the source.
Import history from
Before starting, set Import history from to the earliest document date you need. Start of this year sets January 1 of the current year; From the beginning clears the limit. On an existing connection, select Save import date; the change takes effect on the next full or delta run. Date-bound documents are limited, but explicitly selected master data and current stock quantities are not; automatically added master data may be limited to records referenced by imported documents. Accounting warning: entries before the chosen date are not imported. Account balances therefore start from zero on that date; import opening balances separately before relying on them.Read the results
Source (live) is a current source count, Fetched is the number retrieved for the run, and Bites is the number mapped to Bites records. They can differ when the source changes during an import, the date limit excludes documents, or some records cannot be mapped. A ✓ indicates the available comparison matched; a ⚠ means counts or amounts differ or a warning needs review. Check Invoice total and Residual as well as counts. Not imported yet means the area has not been fetched; select Include in next run if you need it. Stored for audit (no Bites record) means it was retained in the import archive rather than made into a Bites record. Closing the page does not stop queued work; there is no in-app stop button for an inbound migration. Ask an administrator to stop the queue worker if necessary, then resolve a stalled or failed run and select Resume when offered. Stop the worker carefully: it may process other jobs.Limits to check
- Custom or unsupported models may be kept in the import archive only; not every source row becomes a Bites record. Stock movement history is kept for audit, while current stock quantities can be imported. Some attachments or chatter without a supported destination are skipped.
- Productless or fractional-quantity invoice lines, certain tax calculations, and unsupported poster formats can be skipped. Review Skips, Skipped source records, Errors and conflicts, and reconciliation warnings before accepting totals.
- The trial balance covers imported posted journal entries, not invoice or bill ledger postings. Some foreign-currency totals may not match automatically.
- Delta sync does not discover source deletions; a full migration can mark missing source rows in the import archive, but does not delete Bites records. QuickBooks Online attachments and its change feed are not imported.
